Learning about personal finance is going to change your life!

If picking up a book and reading is dreading, here are a few Netflix shows you can start with to learn more. Whether you want to save money, invest wisely, or simply manage your expenses better, Netflix has shows that can help you be more financially savvy.

Grab some popcorn while you get ready to boost your financial knowledge!

Let’s explore four Netflix shows about personal finance that can teach you valuable lessons while keeping you entertained.

1. Money Explained

This docuseries has five episodes of 22 minutes. Money Explained covers financial scams, credit cards, student loans, gambling, and retirement. It is a must-watch to understand the complexities of money. The docuseries breaks everything down in an easy-to-understand way, and each episode is packed with valuable tips and practical advice.

What I like about this docuseries is that they share many stats, making the money journey less lonely. The lack of personal finance knowledge across the country is high, so 56% of Americans do not have $1,000 in savings. So, you are not alone, but you must boost your personal finance knowledge!

Enough with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

2. Get Good with Money

Get Good with Money is a 93-minute docuseries. It dives into the psychology of saving and spending, highlighting the habits and mindsets that influence your financial decisions. You will walk away with practical strategies to implement to make better choices with your money. This series is very helpful for helping you adopt better financial habits and improve your overall financial health.

What I like about this docuseries is that it highlights that money is emotional! We use money to determine how we feel, and it can set us back in our financial goals or cause more stress in our lives.

3. How to get rich

This series is by Author Ramit Sethi, who wrote the book “I Will Teach You to be Rich.” It has eight episodes, all under 40 minutes. Based on his best-selling book, this show covers the best ways to design a rich life, home ownership, credit cards, spending, and weddings. It covers many aspects of personal finance, making it a must-watch for anyone looking for practical advice on building wealth and securing their financial future.

I love that this series includes three families who participate in the process, share their finances, and get the help they need. All families come from different backgrounds and earn different amounts. It shows that even if you make more money, the spending can be out of control, and managing your money is not easy.

4. The Minimalists: Less is now

This documentary is under one hour long. “The Minimalists: Less is Now” covers living with less. Focusing on decluttering and reducing consumerism gives a fresh perspective on managing personal finances.

It is a great reminder that sometimes, having less can lead to financial freedom and happiness.

This documentary shows how difficult it is to stop spending. Every marketing piece targets every emotion you want to “fix.” Marketing always makes you believe that you will be happier if you purchase the item. Money is emotional! Much spending comes from a “problem” you want to “fix.”

These Netflix shows highlight that money goes beyond the numbers. Many get stuck in the numbers portion and believe they will never be good with money, but the emotions are not being addressed; how we live in a country that thrives from making personal finance education inaccessible so that they continue to make money from us.

So, the next time you want something to watch, consider tuning in to one of these shows and be entertained while learning money tools to create the life you envision. You won’t regret it!
